Abstract

This research focuses on anxiety symptoms in patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA), a problem affecting between 26% and 46% of patients (Uda et al., 2021). The aim was to design a psychological intervention program based on CBT to reduce these symptoms. A mixed methodology was used, including a diagnostic phase with semi-structured interviews and the application of the HADS to three women aged 26 to 78 with RA, as well as a review of existing literature. The results show higher levels of anxiety than depression, associated with chronic pain and difficulties in affording treatment, leading to excessive worry and sleep problems. The conclusions highlight the feasibility of the CBT program, which includes 12 group sessions and 12 individual sessions, to reduce anxiety through therapeutic strategies that promote emotional and functional adaptation in patients.
