TRANSFORMANDO VIDAS. NIÑOS Y NIÑAS CON DISCAPACIDAD EN VENEZUELA TRANSFORMING LIVES. CHILDREN WITH DISABILITIES IN VENEZUELA

Resumen

La situación de los niños y niñas con discapacidad en Venezuela es crítica, marcada por la crisis socioeconómica que limita su acceso a derechos fundamentales como educación y salud, a pesar del marco legal que busca protegerlos. El artículo tiene como propósito principal analizar la situación de los niños y niñas con discapacidad en Venezuela. Se realizó una investigación documental, basada en la revisión de leyes nacionales e internacionales, informes y estudios académicos. Se analizó la situación del estado Carabobo, con el Centro de Atención Integral "Carabobo Te Quiero". La situación de los niños y niñas con discapacidad presenta los siguientes desafíos acceso limitado a educación inclusiva, salud y rehabilitación, discriminación y estigma social, pero también presenta avances como el marco legal nacional e internacional que protege sus derechos, el esfuerzo de organizaciones internacionales y locales, la creación del Centro "Carabobo Te Quiero" como modelo de atención integral. En conclusión, la discapacidad infantil en Venezuela requiere atención urgente mediante el esfuerzo coordinado entre gobierno, sociedad civil y comunidad para implementar el marco legal, apoyar iniciativas como el centro "Carabobo Te Quiero" y transformar la perspectiva hacia la "diversibilidad", garantizando la plena inclusión de estos niños.

Abstract

The situation of children with disabilities in Venezuela is critical, marked by the socioeconomic crisis that limits their access to fundamental rights such as education and healthcare, despite the legal framework that seeks to protect them. The main purpose of this article is to analyze the situation of children with disabilities in Venezuela. Documentary research was conducted based on a review of national and international laws, reports, and academic studies. The situation in Carabobo state, with the "Carabobo Te Quiero" Comprehensive Care Center, was analyzed. The situation of children with disabilities presents the following challenges: limited access to inclusive education, healthcare, and rehabilitation, discrimination and social stigma, and the impact of the economic crisis. However, it also presents advances such as the national and international legal framework that protects their rights, the efforts of international and local organizations, and the creation of the "Carabobo Te Quiero" Center as a model for comprehensive care. In conclusion, childhood disabilities in Venezuela require urgent attention through a coordinated effort between the government, civil society, and the community to implement the legal framework, support initiatives like the "Carabobo Te Quiero" center, and transform the perspective toward "diversity," ensuring the full inclusion of these children.
